Information for Commissioners and Clinical Partners

This page provides practical information for commissioners, social workers and healthcare professionals regarding referral criteria, assessment processes and service suitability. Our aim is to ensure placements are carefully assessed, appropriately resourced and sustainable.

Referral & Assessment Process

We take a structured approach to referral review to ensure suitability and placement stability.

Our process includes:

  • Initial screening of referral documentation
  • Review of risk profile against staffing model
  • Consideration of forensic history and safeguarding concerns
  • Discussion with commissioners and clinical teams where required
  • Clear feedback on suitability and next steps

Round-the-clock care in responsive therapeutic environments. For hospital step-down or continuous 24/7 support needs. Includes Baytree Lodge and Shila House, both CQC Good-rated.

Levels of Support

Baytree provides clearly defined levels of support across North London:

  • Registered Residential Care (CQC regulated, 24-hour staffing)
  • 24-Hour Supported Living
  • 9โ€“5 Supported Living
  • Floating Support

Each level offers a structured pathway of progression, with step-up options available if needs change. Full service descriptions can be found on our Care Services page.

Suitability Criteria

We Typically Support:

  • Adults (18+) with enduring mental health needs
  • Individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, complex depression/anxiety, OCD and dual diagnoses
  • Hospital step-down placements
  • Individuals with forensic history (subject to MDT review)
  • Individuals requiring structured support and risk management

We Are Not Currently Suitable For:

  • Active arson risk
  • Unmanaged IV substance use
  • Significant nursing-level physical care needs
  • Risks that cannot be safely managed within our staffing model

A clear assessment of suitability helps reduce placement breakdown.

Clinical & Governance Framework

Our services operate within defined governance structures, including:

  • CQC-regulated residential provision
  • Digital care planning systems
  • Structured risk assessment and relapse-prevention planning
  • Clinical psychology supervision
  • Occupational therapy provision
  • Regular internal quality assurance review

We aim to maintain transparent communication and clear accountability across all services.

We recognise the importance of proactive and consistent communication.
